2.COME BETS
When betting the pass line, it will often take several rolls to determine whether you win or lose. On the average, it takes 3.4 rolls of the dice to settle each pass-line bet. For many players, this is too long a wait. They want to win or lose bets more frequently, perhaps even on every single roll. Craps offers many choices for the player who is looking for such fast-paced action. For the player who favors pass-line bets, the most obvious way to increase the tempo of the game is to also make come bets. A come bet works exactly like a pass bet. The only difference is that you don't have to wait until the come-out roll to make it. You can bet on the come before any roll.
When you do, for the purpose of that bet, the next roll is a come-out. For example, the shooter may be trying to make his point. You then make a come bet, and the shooter throws a 7 on the very next roll. All the players with pass-line bets lose because the shooter sevened-out. However, your come bet wins because, for you, that roll was a come-out and the shooter rolled a natural. By contrast, if the shooter should roll a 4,5,6,8,9, or 10 on the roll directly after you make your come bet, that number becomes your come-point. If the then succeeds in repeating that number before rolling a 7, your come bet will win. However, if he rolls a 7 before repeating the come-point, your bet will lose. I realize this concept is a little difficult to grasp at first. To understand it, make sure you clearly follow the winning and losing shooting sequences that were explained in the section on betting the pass line.
Now imagine that the shooters' rolls of the dice are a never-ending stream of numbers. One could, in effect, cut into that stream at any point, designate the next roll as the come-out, and pick up the play at that point. That is exactly what the player making a come bet does. He is using the same numbers as the other players, but his game is slightly out of sync. In effect, he is sharing the same numbers as the other players but using them to play a different crap game. The reason many players do this is that they do not want to have to wait for the next come-out roll to make another bet. With the come bet, the player can make several wagers before the next come-out. He might even make a new come bet on every roll. This style of play is used by some crap players when they see that the shooter is really hot-rolling for a very long time without sevening-out. In such a case, the player making continuous come bets might win a bet on almost every roll of the dice. However, if the shooter rolls a 7, every come bet will lose except the one made immediately before the roll.
For that one bet, the 7 is a natural. For all the other come bets, the 7 represents a seven-out. To make a come bet, place the chips you wish to wager in front of you in the large space on the layout marked COME. You may make a come bet at any point except before the come-out roll. If you wish to bet before the come-out roll, you should make a pass-line bet instead. Like the pass-line bet, which it parallels, the come bet also pays even money and faces a 1.414 percent edge. When making a come bet, if the shooter throws a natural on the next roll, the dealer will place will place your winnings in front of you. If, instead, he rolls a point number, the dealer will move your come bet to the shooter should succeed in repeating the come-point before rolling a 7, the dealer will place your bet and your winnings in the COME box in front of you.
You must collect this money before the next roll of the dice, or it will count as a new come bet. Anytime the shooter rolls a 7, the dealer will collect all the come bets that have been moved onto numbers but pay those come bets that are still on the come line. see more > > > The Wrong Bettor
