2. THE DON'T-COME BET
If you have followed the discussion so far, you should have no trouble understanding how don't-come bets work. They are just like don't-pass bets, except that you can make them at any time during the game other than before the come-out. For the purposes of such a bet, the very next roll is considered the come-out roll. The bet is paid off at even money. The don't-come box will day BAR 6-6 or BAR 1-1 just like the don't-pass line. This works exactly the same way that it does on don't-pass bets and is the source of the house's edge on this wager. In fact, on the Reno/Lake Tahoe crap layout, the don't-pass line and the don't-come line are the same line.
If you make a wager in this space just prior to the come-out, it counts as a don't-pass bet. A wager made in the same after the come-out is considered a don't-come bet. The Las Vegas and Atlantic City layouts contain a don't-come box in which these wagers can be made on any roll after the come-out. If the shooter rolls a point number on the next roll after the bet is made, the dealer will move the bet to the box directly above the numbered box that corresponds to this point. If the number is repeated before a 7, the dealer will collect this bet. Whenever a 7 is rolled, the dealer pays off all the don't-come bets that are in these boxes but collects any don't-come bets that are in the don't-come box. For the don't-come bets in the boxes above the numbers, the 7 represents a seven-out and therefore a win. But for don't-come bets in the don't-come box, the 7 represents a natural and therefore a loss.
