3.LAYING THE ODDS
The don't -pass or don't-come bettor can also take advantage of the free odds bet, but in this case he is laying the odds rather than taking the odds. This means he is putting up the large part of the bet. In this manner, the odds bet will decrease the house advantage on your total wager in the same way and to the same extent as explained in connection with taking the odds. To lay the odds on a don't-pass bet, you should place the appropriate number of chips next to your don't-pass bet. To distinguish this bet from a don't-pass bet, all of the chips except the bottom one should be offset so that they are in a stack half on and half off the bottom chip. To lay the odds on a don't-come bet, you should place the chips in the don't-come box and tell the dealer which don't-come bet they apply to. You may lay the free odds at any time after a point has been established, but it is to your advantage to do so immediately after the roll that establishes the point (or the come-point, in the case of a don't-come bet).
